Tinnitus is classically described as the presence of high-pitched ringing or buzzing that is audible only to the affected individual. It usually results from a disorder of the auditory system, the somatosensory system (head and neck) or a combination of two.
Tinnitus is a very common auditory disorder affecting approximately 10-15% of the population. Although it is commonly caused by auditory system damages, the role of emotional and psychological factors induces the disorder. Stress has also been found to be a cause attributing to tinnitus.
