Symptoms: Shortness of Breath, Cough and Wheezing, Increased Sputum or Mucus Production, Nasal Congestion, Generalized Weakness, Chest Tightness that Becomes Severe or Remain Constant, Fast Breathing, Drowsiness, Confusion, Exhaustion or Dizziness, Bluish Discoloration of Lips, Fainting may be Present

Definition:

Asthma is a chronic disease of the air passages characterized by inflammation and narrowing of the airways. The chronic inflammation is associated with hyperresponsiveness (an exaggerated airway-narrowing response to specific triggers such as viruses, allergens and exercise) that leads top recurrent episode of wheezing, breathlessness, chest tightness and/or coughing that can vary over time and in intensity.
