Definition:
Dysentery is an infection in the intestines that causes blood and mucus while passing stools. The bacteria that cause dysentery is Shigella and Entamoeba (parasite). In severe case of infection; patients may experience other symptoms due to dehydration such as: decreased urine output, dry skin and mucous membrane, excessive thirst, fever and chills, muscle cramps, loss of strength, weight loss.
