Abstract:
Language is tightly integrated with how a culture integrates itself in the world - with values such as ownership defining how we talk about our relationships with each other and the natural world. April is the Executive Director of Nkwusum Language Institute on the Salish, Kootenai, Flathead Indian Reservation. She teaches indigenous languages and has learned how cultural differences have evolved.
