Abstract:
Role of Science and Technology for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) has constantly evolved globally in accordance with different international declarations from the IDNDR (International Decade of Natural Disaster Reduction) to the Hyogo Framework for Action (HFA: 2005-2015) and the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (SFDRR: 2015-2030). SFDRR highlighted the important role of science and technology for disaster risk reduction in each of its priority areas, as well as emphasised the essential presence of science and technology community to a wide range of stakeholder engagements. This report illustrates the science and technology plan for disaster risk reduction from the 12 countries in Asia. It consists of two parts: Science Technology Plan for DRR and Country Report. The first part contains the background information of the workshop, context and the outcome document of 1st Asian Science and Technology Conference for Disaster Risk Reduction. The second part includes the summary of science technology plan of 11 countries (Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka and Thailand) and one region (Pacific)
