Abstract:
Traditional medicine or indigenous system of medicine in the state of Meghalaya provides ample livelihood opportunities for Traditional Healers and other stakeholders in the trade. This study has paved way for channelizing the sector into a sustainable enterprise not only for rural development but also for addressing the issues related to bio-diversity and cultural conservation. The study aims to promote and uplift traditional system of healing and cultural heritage. The study was implemented through three phases viz., i) Block Level Awareness cum Health Camp on Traditional Healing, ii) District Level Training and Capacity building of the Traditional Healers and iii) Distribution of Tools & Kits.
