Medicinal Plants Used in the Treatment of Diabetes Mellitus in Bellary District, Karnataka

Abstract:
An ethnobotanical survey of Bellary district, comprising seven taluks was conducted during May 2009 to July 2011. A total of 28 species of folk drug plants belonging to 26 genera and 20 families were found to be used as a remedy for diabetes mellitus by the urban, rural and tribal people. The scientific, local and family names of these medicinal plants along with the habit, parts used and mode of their administrations are given in the present paper.
