Promoting the Rights of Indigenous Children and Women: A Stocktaking of UNICEF’s Approach and Practice
Publication Year: 2009
Author(s): Warren P
Abstract:
This study is the result of a collective effort to take stock and examine UNICEF’s experience in indigenous issues, with a view towards strengthening future practice. UNICEF’s work with indigenous children and women dates back to the 1980s. It began in the Andean/Amazon and Central American subregions, where pioneering field experiences were carried out. During the past 20 years, it expanded to other areas of Africa, Asia and Latin America, and to global policymaking.
