Publication Year: 2025
Author(s): World Health Organization
Abstract:
The WHO acknowledges the increasing significance of traditional medicine globally and the necessity for its evidence-based incorporation into health systems. In 2023, the World Health Assembly mandated the formulation of a new global strategy for 2025–2034. WHO developed a vision for universal access to safe, effective, and patient-centered traditional, complementary, and integrative medicine through comprehensive discussions with Member States, experts, and stakeholders. The strategy establishes guiding principles and four objectives: enhance evidence, guarantee safety and regulation, incorporate TCIM into health systems, and maximize its cross-sectoral value. The Seventy-eighth World Health Assembly adopted the Global Traditional Medicine Strategy 2025–2034 through this extensive procedure.
