Architectural Principles from an Indigenous Perspective
Publication Year: 2018
Author(s): Cardinal D
Abstract:
We shape environments, but we ought to remember that our environments also shape us. Knowing this, what kind of environments do we want to create? Our built environments can be inspired by the spirit of nature and can plan for all life-givers for seven generations. If we incorporate these Indigenous architectural principles into our built environments, those environments then have the potential to nurture our societies. Why not create environments which teach us to respect one-another in this way? Mr. Cardinal was accompanied on stage by his wife Idoia Arana-Beobide. We shape environments, but we ought to remember that our environments also shape us. Knowing this, what kind of environments do we want to create? Our built environments can be inspired by the spirit of nature and can plan for all life-givers for seven generations.
