Abstract:

This Framework focused on the management of ecosystem services and emphasizes on holistic approaches, multi-stakeholder participation, decentralized management, multi-sectoral and disciplinary coordination, ecological integrity, adaptive management, equity and inclusiveness. It highlights the interactions between people and their environment in the HKH. It has primarily been designed for implementation in ICIMOD’s Regional Programme on Transboundary Landscapes by ICIMOD and its partner organizations. This Framework and the ‘Long-Term Environmental and Socio-ecological Monitoring Framework’, developed by ICIMOD are complementary documents on monitoring and managing ecosystems. To support the use of this framework, an Operational Manual on Management for Ecosystem Services Planning has also been developed.
