Area-Based Management of Shipping: Canadian and Comparative Perspectives
Publication Year: 2024
Author(s): Chircop A, Goerlandt F, Pelot R, Aporta C
Abstract:
Area-based management has emerged as a valuable and efficient strategy for enhancing maritime safety, security, and pollution avoidance in shipping. It also helps to minimize the negative effects of shipping on the marine environment and coastal populations. This book is a compilation of multidisciplinary studies and analyses that examine important issues related to area-based management in shipping. The research project and workshop, held at Dalhousie University in Canada, provided the basis for these studies. While the book takes a comparative approach, its main emphasis is on Canada. The book encompasses both theoretical and empirical contributions.
