History Of The Technique | The traditional knowledge holder specializes in crafting traditional musical instrument like bamboo flutes, duitara, pan flutes, singthah (marimba) etc. The traditional knowledge holder is under process of making new instrument this skill and knowledge he learned from his ancestors. |
Method of Preparation | The bamboos were cut into equal sizes and tied into a bundle followed by drying process. The bamboos were kept above the chimney and by using the smoke of the fire to dry them for at least a period of one year. A hot iron heated in a fire was used to punctured hole into the bamboo according to the size and distance of the holes measured. Other musical instruments, including the \\\"Duitara\\\" and \\\"Singthah,\\\" were made with Deing poma and Diengkseh wood. |
Material Composition | Three types of bamboo known by their local names are used: a. skhen, b. Tyr-a and c. Rthaw, for making flutes. Tools- local Knife, saw, measuring tape, saw etc. |
