History Of The Technique A local Traditional knowledge holder acquired the knowledge of handicraft since the year 1991 by observing the local artisans in his community and every day he would make it a point to practice crafts in order to enhance his skills as a craftsman.
Manufacturing technique The traditional handicrafts that he makes are: round bamboo stool locally called “mura”, different baskets of various shapes and sizes locally called as “chang, khoh, shang kwai”, bamboo mat locally called “chylliah”, bamboo chair locally called “chuki thri”.
Method of Preparation The methods of preparation were not fully disclosed by the artisans however, only few information was gathered such as that these handicraft takes of about one week time to be fully completed and the traditional art of these items is that they are fully handmade and are much firmer in nature.
Material Composition Raw materials used “thri”, “chken heh”, “ckhen khian”, rubber and the tools used are ka “wait”, “tari”, “kurat” and drilling machine.
How to implement Due to the lack of raw materials in the village, the materials are usually bought from Saipung village and the main collection centre of these raw materials is in Sutnga village therefore; there is no difficulty in procuring the raw materials that are solely required for making handicrafts hence; the only hardship encountered is the transportation facility in delivering the final products to their customers.
New R & D leads Lack of raw materials is the challenge.
