The study argues that IK is an imprecisely formulated term and highlights recent scholarship that sees IK and WS as constructed categories that emerged in particular historical circumstances. It concludes by discussing briefly the notion that these mutually exclusive labels should be avoided, so as not to privilege some forms of knowledge over others.

The survey recorded traditional knowledge on 949 formulations used for 66 human ailments. Five hundred forty six plant products, 42 animal products and 22 organic/inorganic materials were found to be used in these 949 formulations. Five plant species – Zingiber officinale Zingiberaceae), Cocos nucifera (Arecaceae), Oroxylum indicum (Bignonaceae), Curcuma longa (Zingiberaceae) and Allium sativum (Liliaceae) used by maximum number of Maiba and Maibi in maximum number of formulations.

The NBA, the State Biodiversity Boards (SBBs) and the Biodiversity Management Committees (BMCs) form the operational arms for the Act and Rules at National, State and Local levels respectively. This guideline was developed to provide operational guidelines for BMCs so that their establishment and operationalization becomes informed with clarity on roles and responsibilities of BMCs.
The project intends to understand the traditional practices and wisdom associated with Jhum agriculture and tries to answer some critical questions.

The study revealed that the bran is rich in RBO and antioxidants like oryzanol, tocopherol and tocotrienol which may contribute to its high therapeutic value. The study recommends minimum polishing of these rice varieties during milling for consumption purpose. As the bran is rich in fibre and micronutrients like Fe, Cu, B and S, it should be utilized for the preparation of value added products like biscuits, baby foods, breads, etc. for healthy human consumption. The study envisages an urgent need for the utilization of the huge quantity of rice bran oil and as component of other food products.
