The Language Loss of the Indigenous
Publication Year: 2018
Author(s): Devy GN, Davis GV, Chakravarty KK
Abstract:
This volume explores the issue of language and cultural erosion in various post-colonial settings. This statement asserts that the aphasia experienced by indigenous people is merely a visible indication of a more profound problem - the disconnect between the mutually beneficial relationship that indigenous communities have with their environment, and the concept of development that is presented to them as their future. The pieces presented here demonstrate the fast decline of indigenous cultures and their creative representations worldwide. They expose the apathy of market forces towards diversity and the reluctance of states to defend and ensure the well-being of these neglected people.
